Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is a key member of Dragonfly's Finance & Accounting team, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for Dragonfly and its client organizations while ensuring compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and nonprofit/grant funding requirements. This role oversees and supports bookkeepers, serves as a trusted financial partner to clients, and plays a central role in audit readiness, grant compliance, and continuous improvement of accounting processes across Dragonfly's portfolios.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Manage and maintain accurate financial records for Dragonfly and its clients
- Review financial reports for errors, discrepancies, and areas for improvement
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Manage A/P & A/R processes using BILL and other related platforms
- Prepare sales tax, business tax, franchise & excise tax, and property tax returns
- Maintain a working knowledge of tax laws and regulations
- Track grant funding, restricted funds, and program budgets
- Ensure financial reporting requirements for grants and funders are met
- Support grant proposal development by preparing grant budgets and financial documentation
- Monitor compliance with funding requirements and restrictions
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial regulations, grant requirements, and internal policies
- Coordinate the preparation of financial materials for annual audits and work with external auditors as needed
- Maintain financial policies and procedures that support transparency and accountability
- Ensure appropriate documentation and internal controls are maintained for all financial activities
- Oversee and support bookkeepers, providing guidance, training, and quality control to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with remote clients and stakeholders
- Provide exceptional customer service and support to Dragonfly's clients
- Contribute to the development and improvement of accounting procedures and systems
- Ensure accurate and efficient accounting processes
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA certification or actively pursuing certification is a plus
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience
- Nonprofit bookkeeping and grant reporting experience
- Working knowledge of tax laws and regulations
- Proficiency in using accounting software (Quick Books Online Pro Advisor preferred)
- Familiarity with expense management platforms such as BILL, Expensify or similar tools
- Familiarity with Google Workspace, particularly Google Sheets
- Strong spreadsheet skills for data analysis, reporting, and financial modeling
- Experience with project management platforms like Click Up, , or Asana to track and monitor client projects
- High level of technical proficiency learning and using digital tools
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Naturally curious, with a willingness to ask questions, seek clarification, and explore solutions when faced with unfamiliar transactions or challenges
Location:
This is a full time position based in Memphis, TN.
Compensation & Benefits:
Base Salary: $78k - $92k annually. Benefits:
