Commercial Tire Technician
Key Responsibilities
- Mount and dismount commercial truck tires using approved tools, equipment, and procedures
- Inspect tires, wheels, and rims for damage, excessive wear, and other safety concerns
- Perform tire repairs, including patching and plugging, according to company and industry standards
- Install and remove commercial tire and wheel assemblies
- Inflate tires to proper specifications and check for leaks
- Assist with balancing commercial tire and wheel assemblies when required
- Identify tires that require repair, replacement, or further inspection
- Properly handle, move, stack, and organize commercial tires throughout the slab and service area
- Prepare tires and wheel assemblies for installation, delivery, or customer pickup
- Operate tire-changing equipment, jacks, impact tools, and other commercial tire service equipment
- Perform routine inspections of tools and equipment and report any safety or maintenance concerns
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe tire slab and work area
- Follow all company safety procedures, including proper handling of commercial tire and wheel assemblies
- Assist other technicians and team members with shop operations as needed
Qualifications
- Previous commercial tire service experience preferred but not required
- Experience mounting and dismounting commercial truck tires is a plus
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn commercial tire service procedures
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and tire service equipment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
- Valid driver's license preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly lift, roll, move, and handle commercial truck tires and wheel assemblies
- Ability to perform physically demanding and repetitive work throughout the shift
- Ability to stand, bend, squat, kneel, push, and pull for extended periods
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions
- Ability to safely work around vehicles, heavy tires, machinery, and service equipment
