Data Center Facility Operations Manager, Data Center Communities

As a Facility Manager, you will lead on‑site teams and oversee all aspects of the data center’s critical physical infrastructure. You will ensure high availability and performance while maintaining service level agreements and fostering a safety and security culture. You will act as the escalation point for facilities‑related issues, support new facility builds, and manage the operations budget.

• Operate and maintain the data center’s critical equipment such as switch gear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution, chillers, cooling towers, and building monitoring systems.
• Manage 24/7 shift technicians, contractors, and vendors, ensuring work aligns with established practices, procedures, and safety protocols.
• Drive safety and security culture and compliance within the team.
• Hire, coach, and develop team members; handle performance management and career development.
• Manage the operations budget and expenditures effectively.
• Lead improvement projects, collaborating with support teams to move projects from conception to completion.
• Serve as escalation point for facility issues; respond to out‑of‑hours emergency calls.
• May support more than one location/site and assist in the build‑out of new facilities.
• Utilize administrative tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook for day‑to‑day tasks.

• 2+ years of people management and team development experience.
• 5+ years of engineering work managing large‑scale services.
• Experience maintaining service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.
• Experience operating a mission‑critical team or product.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

• 3+ years in a management position with 5 or more direct reports.
• 5+ years working in data centers with emphasis on building and equipment operation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of critical data center systems such as feeders, transformers, generators, switch gear, UPS, ATS, PDU, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC.

• Participate in group lifts of 40+ pounds.
• Perform construction tasks on ladders.
• Regularly perform tasks that involve walking, using hands and fingers, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing stairs, twisting, bending, and carrying objects.
• Work in an environment requiring ear protection.
