Field Safety Manager – EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) – Engineering Services – Field-Based – Bartlett, TN (Memphis)

Overview

Experitec is looking for an experienced field safety professional to own safety operations across job sites and lead field-based safety initiatives. The manager will partner with a Safety Coordinator to handle administrative compliance while focusing on presence, engagement, and outcomes in the field.

Responsibilities
  • Lead field walkdowns, toolbox talks, job hazard analyses (JHA), and audits to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Own incident response, investigations, and root cause analysis, driving corrective actions to closure.
  • Enforce safety policies, PPE requirements, and Stop Work Authority with the authority to halt unsafe work.
  • Build and maintain core safety infrastructure, including the risk management system and equipment programs (preventative maintenance, 4‑gas monitors, repair and bump‑tests).
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer safety requirements and represent Experitec in safety meetings with clients and partners.
  • Define crew training needs, including HAZWOPER, Hazmat, and other field‑specific requirements, and deliver field‑based training.
  • Review escalated fleet safety events, conduct coaching conversations with drivers, and set fleet safety escalation thresholds with EHS leadership.
  • Analyze site trends to proactively reduce incidents and improve safety performance.
What You Will Contribute
  • Regular, visible presence at job sites reinforcing safe work practices.
  • Sound judgment balancing safety, schedule, and customer relationships in real‑time field conditions.
  • Hands‑on leadership of audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • A proactive, prevention‑focused approach that reduces incidents.
  • Strong working relationships with customers, field crews, and the Safety Coordinator.
  • Development and ownership of the annual field safety budget with reporting to leadership.
  • Collaboration with Talent Management and Engineering Services to develop, implement, and sustain safety programs.
Required Skills, Experience & Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., associate degree with ≥2 years relevant experience, high school diploma with ≥4 years relevant experience).
  • Five or more years of experience leading safety programs.
  • Three or more years of experience conducting audits, inspections, and JHAs.
  • Three or more years of experience leading incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Three or more years of experience monitoring safety performance metrics and proactively mitigating risks.
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operating procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and field safety practices with sound judgment for dynamic work environments.
  • Discretion and professionalism handling sensitive employee, medical, and compliance information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and quickly learning new software platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with field crews, customers, and leadership.
  • Ability to work from one of Experitec's office locations (St. Louis, MO; Kansas City, KS; or Memphis, TN) with regular travel to customer field locations.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
  • Availability Monday through Friday, 8 am‑5 pm, with occasional after‑hours for incident response.
  • Valid driver’s license and passing driving record background check.
  • Ability to use personal vehicle for most work travel and rent a car when requested.
  • Independent domestic travel up to 25 % of the time (including overnights).
Preferred Skills, Experience & Abilities
  • Five or more years leading safety programs, including program development, implementation, and continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, Business Administration, Human Resources, Industrial Hygiene, or a closely related field.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST), and/or similar credentials.
