What You'll Do
As Assistant Construction Manager, you'll support Construction Managers across multiple transportation projects-coordinating field activities, administering plans, and maintaining communication between clients, inspectors, and engineers to keep work on schedule and to spec.
* Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites.
* Coordinate the work of colleagues on construction sites and support day-to-day field logistics.
* Attend weekly project progress meetings to discuss current and potential issues.
* Ensure proper administration of project plans and documentation; maintain accurate progress records.
* Respond to client suggestions and complaints promptly and drive resolution.
* Perform testing procedures (e.g., density testing of soils/aggregates, concrete testing, asphalt materials testing).
* Assist in developing and implementing quality control programs.
* Engage in ongoing self-education and training to keep up with industry trends and changes.
* Perform responsibilities consistent with ethical engineering standards outlined in the company handbook.
* Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
Who We're Looking For:
Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management with two years of experience OR
* Technical school graduate with 4 years of experience
* Possession of a valid state-issued driver's license and required auto insurance
* Construction testing certifications (e.g. ESPC, hotmix, concrete, OSHA, etc.) preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
* Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
* General knowledge of state and/or local construction and building guidelines and roadway construction practices (reconstruction, rehabilitation, pavement management).
* Ability to interpret highway contracts, special provisions, plans, and specifications; read technical drawings and related documents.
* Strong interpersonal skills with clear written and verbal communication; detail orientation and sound judgment/decision-making.
