Work Location
Monday to Thursday, work onsite with your colleagues. Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires.
Responsibilities- Engage with customers and account managers to thoroughly understand customer needs and define project scope.
- Prepare cost estimates consisting of materials, sub-contractors, purchased equipment, labor, and other construction-related activities.
- Work closely with the Trane equipment sales team to ensure product selections meet customer needs and design specifications.
- Create detailed cost estimates including system sketches, scope definition, exclusions, preliminary proposal, vendor/sub-contractor quotes, and materials lists.
- Enter data into Trane's estimating tool to generate estimates.
- Take-off and price purchased equipment and materials to ensure accurate quantity, size, configuration, voltage, options, etc.
- Review bid documents, existing conditions, and subcontractor proposals for conflicts and constructability issues.
- Identify possible cost-saving opportunities and risk items on projects.
- Negotiate prices with vendors/sub-contractors to optimize job costs.
- Review project financials with leadership to ensure estimates perform as anticipated.
- Participate in project handoff meetings to facilitate a smooth transition into execution.
- Support project fulfillment team by answering questions and providing guidance on scope and construction knowledge.
- Conduct LOA meetings as appropriate based on the magnitude of work.
- 8+ years of commercial HVAC/mechanical construction experience.
- Experience with cost estimating and construction processes.
- Working knowledge of HVAC applications and systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Flexibility to work outside normal hours/weekends, including travel with occasional overnight stays.
