We are seeking a Roadway Construction Inspector to oversee Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) services on transportation infrastructure projects. You will work closely with construction manager, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure roadway and bridge projects are constructed in strict accordance with project plans and specifications.
Key Responsibilities Quality Assurance & TestingPerform quality assurance sampling and testing for soils, aggregate, asphalt, and concrete.
Use standard inspection equipment such as measuring tapes, measuring wheels, levels, probes, mobile devices, and other field-testing tools.
Site MonitoringObserve and document daily construction activities to verify work is being completed according to project plans and specifications.
Measure distances, elevations, and dimensions to confirm construction work is installed correctly.
Documentation & ReportingPrepare daily inspection reports, field notes, and project documentation, including photographs and summaries of construction activities.
Enter and organize project information using construction management software.
Safety & Traffic ControlConduct daily inspections of work zones, traffic control devices (MUTCD standards), and erosion control measures to help maintain compliance with project requirements and safety standards.
Follow all company and project safety requirements, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
CommunicationCommunicate and coordinate with contractors, utility representatives, project team members, and supervisors regarding construction activities and field observations.
Participate in training opportunities to develop technical knowledge and inspection skills.
Required Qualifications & Skills- Experience: Experience with roadway, drainage and traffic control preferred.
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Certifications: TDOT (preferred) or other DOT certifications / Experience preferred. Willingness to obtain certifications within the first 6 months is mandatory.
- Field Capability: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
