The Construction Superintendent is a full-time, on-site role based in Memphis, TN, responsible for overseeing day-to-day field operations on assigned construction projects. This position coordinates and supervises subcontractors and crews, monitors progress against schedules, and ensures that work is completed in accordance with plans, specifications, and quality standards. The superintendent enforces safety policies, conducts site inspections, and addresses issues that may affect safety, timelines, or budget.
Daily activities include tracking materials and equipment, maintaining site documentation and reports, communicating with project managers and stakeholders, and resolving on-site challenges to keep projects on schedule. The role requires consistent presence on the job site, clear communication with all parties involved, and proactive leadership to maintain a productive and safe work environment.
- Demonstrated skills in Construction Site Management, including supervising crews, coordinating subcontractors, and overseeing daily field operations.
- Proven Organization Skills, with the ability to manage schedules, documentation, materials, and multiple concurrent tasks on active job sites.
- Relevant experience as a construction superintendent, foreperson, or similar field leadership role in commercial or residential construction.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts; familiarity with construction codes and industry best practices.
- Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams, resolve conflicts, and provide clear direction on site.
- Proficiency with basic computer and construction management tools (e.g., email, spreadsheets, scheduling software, mobile apps for field reporting).
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or an associate/bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field is beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in varying weather conditions, stand or walk for extended periods, and perform the physical demands of active construction environments.
