Construction Technician I

As Construction Technician I, you'll perform on-site inspections, materials testing, and documentation—supporting Project Managers and Construction Managers to verify contractor compliance with contract documents and specifications. Support Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle with inspection and documentation tasks. Record, measure, and verify quantities for pay applications and project tracking. Inspect roadway materials and verify conformance with owner specifications and approved submittals.
Perform materials testing (concrete, asphalt, soils, etc.) as required by owner specifications. Consult with supervisors to plan acceptance testing and evaluate field conditions; escalate issues promptly. Report maintenance problems at the project site and collaborate on timely resolution. Write daily reports, staff reports, and letters on construction activities as needed. Engage in self-education and training to keep up with current industry trends and changes.
Perform responsibilities consistent with ethical engineering standards in the company handbook. Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
Who We're Looking For:
Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent Possession of a valid state issued Driver's License and required auto insurance
Preferred Qualifications:
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Basic knowledge of state and/or local construction and building guidelines and roadway construction practices (reconstruction, rehabilitation, pavement management). Ability to interpret highway contracts, special provisions, plans, and specifications; strong written communication and documentation skills. Clear speech, detail orientation, sound judgment/decision-making, organization, and teamwork. Construction testing certifications (e.g., ESPC, hot mix, concrete, OSHA) a plus.
