Tenure-Track Associate Professor in Physiology
The Department of Physiology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track Associate Professor to join a faculty of excellence in molecular and translational physiology research. Ranked among the top ten Physiology departments in North America for total research funding, the Department of Physiology at UTHSC offers a strong platform for investigators seeking to expand the scope, impact, and visibility of their research.
We welcome candidates with established, externally funded research programs who are committed to integrating with and strengthening departmental research efforts in cardiovascular and renal diseases, diabetes, ion channel physiology, and mitochondrial biology. We particularly encourage applications from investigators demonstrating emerging leadership and strong potential for continued growth and impact. Key expectations include sustaining a high-impact, nationally funded research program; teaching and mentoring across professional and graduate programs;
and participating in institutional and community service. The successful candidate will receive a competitive start-up package and benefit from close partnerships with the Divisions of Cardiology and Nephrology, campus-wide research centers, and regional hospital systems, enabling meaningful bench-to-bedside impact.

- Required qualifications include a PhD, MD, or equivalent terminal degree.

- Demonstrated recent success in securing national research funding, with NIH R01 support preferred; comparable external funding considered.
