The College of Education and the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology, and Research seeks a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track faculty member for the School Counseling program beginning August 17, 2026. The School Counseling program is CACREP and CAEP accredited and emphasizes evidence-based practice promoting college and career readiness, data-driven programming, and interventions for students' academic achievement and social/emotional well-being. The position requires a balance of teaching, research, and service.

Teaching includes instructing graduate courses, mentoring students, supervising research of advanced graduate students, and chairing and serving on doctoral committees. Scholarly research involves publishing research, and pursuing external funding and service includes participating in national professional organizations, university, and college committees, and serving the local community. The employed candidate will primarily teach courses within the School Counseling program but may also teach courses in the department's other CACREP accredited counseling programs.

The position number is 001200. The Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology, and Research and the College of Education are not currently offering any sponsor ships for this position.

Minimum Position Qualifications

Required

* Doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervisor from a CACREP accredited program or meet one of the alternative qualifications according to CACREP

* Licensed or license-eligible as a PK-12 school counselor in Tennessee

* Minimum of two years of employment as a school counselor

* Graduate level teaching experience

* Strong knowledge of the ASCA National Model

* Evidence of a research agenda and publication record

Desired

* Experience teaching classes either in-person, online, and /or hybridized environments in a CACREP accredited program

* Experience in providing clinical supervision

* Knowledge and experience of continuous program evaluation and experience with CACREP, NCATE/CAEP

* Evidence of federally funded grant awards or participation in federally funded projects

* Evidence of publications in top and key professional journals in the field

* Research/teaching/clinical experience in one of the following areas: youth with disabilities, behavioral disorders, suicidal ideation, or those who have experienced trauma

SALARY & BEGINNING DATE

Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications. The University offers an excellent benefits package including healthcare and retirement. The position (001200) is a nine-month tenure track appointment with the possibility of summer teaching. The anticipated date of appointment is August 17, 2026.
