High School Founding Lead Teacher and Curriculum Fellow
Our School: Libertas is a public charter school serving the Frayser neighborhood in Memphis. Our mission is to be a school for human flourishing: cultivating minds, hands, and hearts for lives of wonder, work, and love. We offer a rich, rigorous, and personalized education through the method of Dr. Maria Montessori and the classical liberal arts. Tennessee has twice named Libertas a Reward School - a top 15% school. We currently serve infant and toddler, early childhood and elementary at our founding location and a middle school on a second nearby campus. Over the next 1-2 years we will open a high school that uniquely imparts literary and cultural tradition while also fostering student enterprise and work of the hand - together preparing students for college, career, and citizenship.

Role Summary
- Libertas is committed to teacher leadership. We are completing our middle school and developing a new high school. The purpose of this role is to provide high-quality instruction to middle school students part-time while also having protected time to develop curriculum for the middle school and/or new high school. This incubation will allow the candidate to develop relationships and become part of our unique culture before transitioning to the high school along with students.
The individual in this role will be a candidate for a future Department Chair position. Potential leadership opportunities, based on interest and skill, include: providing coaching and feedback to other teachers; leading professional development sessions; auditing, revising, and/or developing curriculum for middle or high school grades. - Full-time role. School day is 7:45 am-3:45 pm (until 4:45 on Tuesdays for professional development). Most lead teachers spend approximately 4-6 hours per week outside of the regular school day for planning, collaboration, and preparation.

Planning and Instruction
- Plan and implement high-quality instruction for daily individual student lessons in alignment with our school curriculum. Prepare lessons and materials and organize the classroom.
- Submit lesson plans weekly for review and incorporate feedback into planning
- Regularly observe students to inform instruction. Collect and analyze assessment data.
- Teach students with diverse needs in an inclusive environment; implement IEP accommodations and modifications with support from Student Support Team / special education staff. Participate in our Child Study process, including presenting data and implementing plans.
- Support the Middle School Director and High School Development Team in our academic alignment and curriculum development efforts by creating, monitoring, evaluating, and adapting a content-rich, state standards-aligned roadmap of curriculum and assessment.
- Support the coordination and implementation of curriculum and assessments.
- Review and enhance the alignment of our curriculum with Tennessee standards.
- Adapt and/or create middle school and/or high school curriculum and program plans.
- Organize and analyze academic data and support teachers' use of data for planning and reflection.
- Support teachers in understanding and implementing our curriculum.
- Produce aligned academic materials for classroom use.
- Participate in developing and implementing coaching, training, and ongoing collaboration for teachers.
