Job Title: Special Education Teacher – Functional Skills Classroom (Grades K–8, Exact Grade TBD)

Start/End Dates:
July 22, 2025 – May 22, 2026
Schedule:
- Monday–Thursday: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Friday: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
- Full-time (8 hours/day)
Job Summary:
We are seeking two dedicated and highly motivated Special Education Teachers to join our Functional Skills program for students in grades K–8 (exact grade level TBD). This position is ideal for educators passionate about creating inclusive learning environments that empower students with diverse learning needs. Teachers will serve students with IEPs in a self-contained Functional Skills classroom and collaborate with general education staff to support student success across settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and foster a high-expectation culture aligned with our mission of Paving Pathways to Success for all scholars and staff.
- Administer academic and functional diagnostic assessments to inform instructional planning.
- Serve as an active member of the IEP team; assist in developing individualized goals and strategies tailored to each student’s unique needs.
- Provide direct instruction to students with IEPs, focusing on academic, functional, and interpersonal skill development.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure that modifications and accommodations are appropriately implemented.
- Maintain open and consistent communication with families and team members through meetings, phone calls, and email.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date documentation including IEPs, progress reports, and compliance-related records, in accordance with federal, state, and SELPA guidelines.
- Participate in Student Study Team (SST) meetings and implement follow-up plans as needed.
- Stay current with special education laws, instructional best practices, and district policies.
Qualifications:
- Valid and current Tennessee Special Education Credential (Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe)
