Job SummaryAdjunct Faculty in the Department of Allied Health and Natural Sciences. This part‑time position requires the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities on any Southwest Tennessee Community College campus. Teaching may occur during daytime, evenings, or weekends across multiple campus locations.
Job Duties- Prepare and deliver instruction in classroom and clinical settings on topics related to allied health science.
- Compile, administer, evaluate, and grade students’ class work, laboratory work, assignments, tests, and papers fairly and consistently; keep students informed about their progress.
- Develop curricula and instructional material such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
- Maintain office hours for students seeking academic advice, assist in recruitment and retention, and help students with course‑related problems outside of the classroom.
- Maintain accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records in compliance with federal FERPA regulations.
- Attend all faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development, orientation activities, and other meetings as called by the President, Dean, or Department Chair.
- Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, consulting colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
- Participate in departmental and college committees and provide outreach service to the community.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Department Head or Dean.
- Registered dietitian/nutritionist (RD or RDN) or Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist in Tennessee (LDN).
- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in nutrition.
- Teaching experience preferred, but not required.
- Comfortable with online components of education.
- Willing to teach virtual evening classes.
- Willing to teach dual enrollment classes (preferred but not required).
- Knowledge of current teaching and learning strategies that promote student‑centered learning and succeed with a diverse student population.
- Skill in selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the learning situation.
- Ability to integrate technology into course delivery.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others can understand.
- Willingness and flexibility to teach classes using various instructional delivery methods at any of the four campus locations.
