Instructional Coach, 2‑5 Math
Position SummaryThe Instructional Coach, 2‑5 Math serves as a highly visible instructional leader responsible for strengthening math instruction and student achievement across upper elementary classrooms. This role develops teachers through coaching, lesson internalization, classroom modeling, data analysis, and real‑time feedback cycles designed to improve instructional practice and student outcomes.
The ideal candidate is passionate about helping teachers grow in their instructional practice while ensuring students experience rigorous, engaging, and standards‑aligned math instruction daily. This coach supports teachers in strengthening instructional rigor, small group systems, mathematical discourse, checks for understanding, and data‑driven reteach planning.
This role is deeply embedded in classrooms and requires a leader who thrives on working alongside teachers in real time. The majority of the coach’s day should be spent observing classrooms, modeling instruction, facilitating planning conversations, and supporting implementation directly on the floor rather than from an office.

- Strong implementation of rigorous, standards‑aligned math instruction
- Consistent execution of coaching responsibilities including observations, coaching meetings, PLCs, data meetings, and follow‑up support
- Development of teachers through actionable feedback, modeling, and instructional planning
- Development and maintenance of aligned pacing tools, scope and sequences, and assessment calendars
- Teacher satisfaction and growth through coaching and instructional support
- Maintaining a highly visible, classroom‑embedded leadership presence
- Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree preferred - Valid Tennessee teaching license required
- Minimum 4–5 years of successful upper elementary math teaching experience
- Demonstrated strong student achievement results in math
- Experience with instructional coaching, PLC facilitation, or teacher development preferred
- Strong understanding of math rigor, small groups, and data‑driven instruction
- Ability to analyze assessment data and support intervention planning
- Passionate about upper elementary math instruction
- Strong classroom management and instructional credibility
- Skilled in modeling rigorous math instruction
- Strong communicator and facilitator
- Comfortable coaching teachers in real time
- Believes in developing teachers through collaboration and accountability
- Highly visible, hands‑on, and student‑centered
