Job Summary:
The Senior Associate Dean of Administration, Operations, and Services (AOS) is a member of the Leadership Team and a principal administrative officer of the College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM). The role oversees the physical, logistical, and administrative operations that support high‑quality medical education while serving as a liaison to students, faculty, staff, and the public to ensure needs are met efficiently and effectively.
The Senior Associate Dean of AOS ensures that Academic Affairs and Clinical Affairs have the resources needed to deliver a curriculum that meets or exceeds Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) standards and prepares students for successful placement in graduate medical education programs. This position leads the COM’s administrative areas Finance, Registrar, Admissions, Student Affairs, Accreditation and Assessment, Safety, Psychology Services, and Development and collaborates with IT, Marketing, Communications, Spiritual Care, and Alumni Affairs to support COM operations.
The Senior Associate Dean also works with the Vice President of Finance and Operations to coordinate COM facilities and operational support for faculty, staff, students and the curriculum.
Job Responsibilities:
Demonstrates an active and consistent commitment to the mission of Baptist Health Sciences University and the College of Osteopathic Medicine. Develops, implements, and evaluates both an annual operational and a long-term strategic plan for effective support for the College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Assists with Enrollment Management initiatives of the COM and University as applicable.
Serves as an administrative, operational services consultant committed to developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating, educational, administrative, and research support systems to meet COM’s mission, vision, and goals.
Participates as appropriate in supporting the expectations of COCA standards and those of The Commission on Colleges and Universities (previously SACSCOC). Works with Academic Affairs Clinical Affairs, Osteopathic Neuro Musculoskeletal Medicine, Biomedical Sciences and Clinical Sciences to define future needs and improve on current support systems.
Directs the division through interviewing, selecting, training, and evaluating faculty and staff to promote quality instruction, satisfaction, and development.
Prepares, administers, and monitors the division’s annual operational and capital budgets for strategic communications plans and projects to ensure efficient resource management.
Leads compliance efforts with external requirements including but not limited to The Commission on Colleges and Universities (previously SACSCOC), COCA, Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), and other professional accrediting agencies.
Engages in teaching, practice, and/or research as compatible with COM needs and individual scholarship goals as appropriate.
Performs other accountabilities as assigned or directed.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge/Education/Experience
- Earned Doctorate degree from an accredited institution (PhD or EdD) with demonstrated leadership experience in Administration, Higher Education, or a closely related field. (e.g. PhD or EdD)
- Three (3) years of experience in a comparable academic or administrative leadership role.
- Proven ability to lead, build and sustain collaborative teams including strategic planning, operational oversight, and performance management of faculty and staff.
- Demonstrated expertise in policy development and governance, including drafting, interpreting, and implementing institutional policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to lead academic, personnel, and operational decisions through conflict resolution, data‑informed decision‑making and problem‑solving.
