- Create engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans that culminate in regular, appropriate assessments and clear measures of student mastery.
- Align content with National Standards, Advanced Placement expectations, Dual Enrollment expectations, etc. as appropriate;
- Design and present lessons that enable all students to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to meet performance objectives.
- Adopt pedagogical approaches that reflect current best practices within one’s discipline and make material accessible to all learners and learning styles.
- Prepare materials for lessons, assignments, and tests; evaluate, correct, and grade student performance in a timely manner.
- Establish high expectations for each girl’s growth and performance through timely, meaningful, and actionable feedback.
- Ensure student feedback and grading reflects multiple measures and an emphasis on performance.
- Provide girls with multiple opportunities to demonstrate growth toward the unit performance objectives and assign grades that reflect how well girls have met the unit performance objectives.
- Partner with colleagues to ensure grading practices provide feedback for growth.
- Encourage self-reflection and peer feedback to empower girls to become more effective learners.
- Responds to requests and submits grades in accordance to provided timelines and due dates.
- Cultivate trusting, caring relationships that ignite each girl’s love of learning.
- Partner with colleagues and administrators to better understand each girl’s needs.
- Communicate student progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to parents and, as appropriate, other faculty and administrators.
- Collaborates with the Director of Student Inclusion and Belonging & Division Head to welcome, successfully transition, and support new girls into the community
- Collaborates with Division Head, Assistant Head, Counselor, and Director of Student Inclusion and Belonging regarding student issues;
- Prioritize professional growth through consistent participation in faculty meetings, educational conferences, in-service workshops, and other professional development opportunities.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with parents.
- Participates positively and actively in the life of the school including chaperoning activities and field trips, attending after school events, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
- Three years of successful teaching experience required;
Five or more years are preferred. - Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required, Master’s degree preferred in related field;
Valid Teacher licensure preferred. - Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage the classroom.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
- Ability to manage safety concerns, fire drills, and emergencies independently.
- Sufficient mobility and agility needed to interact with students and sustain physical activity as necessary to fulfill the essential functions of this job.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs., when necessary.
