This is a part‑time, adjunct faculty position in the Business and Legal Studies Department. The role involves teaching, grading, and student advising on paralegal studies courses, with responsibilities that include curriculum development, faculty meetings, and participation in professional development activities. The instructor may teach on any Southwest Tennessee Community College campus, including Macon Cove, on a term‑by‑term basis.
Job Duties- Prepare and deliver instruction on topics in Paralegal Studies.
- Compile, administer, evaluate, and grade students’ class work, laboratory work, assignments, tests, and papers fairly and consistently; keep students informed of their progress through prompt grading.
- Develop curricula and instructional materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
- Maintain office hours for student academic advice, assist in recruitment and retention, and help students with course‑related issues outside of the classroom.
- Maintain accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records in compliance with FERPA regulations.
- Attend all faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development and orientation activities, and other meetings called by the President, Dean or Department Chair.
- Stay abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, consulting with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
- Participate in departmental and college committees and provide outreach service to the community.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Head/Dean.
- Juris Doctorate.
- Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience in higher education or one (1) year teaching experience and three (3) years employment in the field.
- Knowledge of current teaching and learning strategies to facilitate student‑centered learning; experience interacting successfully with a growing student population.
- Skill in selecting and using instructional methods and procedures appropriate for new learning or teaching situations.
- Ability to integrate technology into course delivery.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so that others will understand.
- Willingness and flexibility to teach classes using various instructional delivery methods.
