This is a full‑time, 9‑month tenure‑track faculty appointment reporting to the department chair of Engineering Technologies. The faculty position will support the Electrical Engineering Technology and Computer Engineering Technology programs. Responsibilities include coordinating, planning, preparing, presenting, and evaluating classroom instruction and related activities such as developing curricula, delivering lectures, facilitating class discussions, and evaluating student work. The faculty member will also perform duties on any Southwest Tennessee Community College campus as assigned, including instruction, academic counseling, advising, committee service, and participation in professional activities.
Job Duties- Prepare and deliver instruction on electrical and computer engineering technology topics, including digital circuits, DC and AC circuits, electronics, digital industrial control systems, power technology, robotics, programmable logic controllers, microcontrollers, digital communication systems, and computer networks.
- Develop curricula and instructional materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, handouts, and laboratory exercises; conduct laboratory sessions for courses taught.
- Compile, administer, evaluate, and grade students’ coursework, laboratory work, assignments, tests, and papers fairly and consistently; keep students informed of progress through prompt grading.
- Maintain accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records in compliance with FERPA regulations.
- Maintain office hours for students seeking academic advice and tutor students with course‑related problems; assist in the planning and implementation of continuous quality improvement plans at the department and program levels.
- Assist in the ABET reaccreditation process.
- Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, networking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
- Attend all faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development and orientation activities, and other meetings called by senior academic leaders.
- Participate in student recruitment, retention, registration, and placement activities; serve on departmental and college committees; provide outreach service to the community.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or Dean.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronic engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering technology, electronic engineering technology, or a closely related field.
- Master’s degree or higher in a related field.
- A minimum of 1–3 years of industrial experience.
- Teaching experience in a community college environment.
- Knowledge of a college academic environment.
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation.
- Knowledge of current teaching and learning strategies to facilitate student‑centered learning; experience interacting successfully with a diverse student population.
- Skill in selecting and using training, instructional methods, and procedures appropriate for the situation.
- Skill in active listening.
- Skills in organization and effective teaching.
- Knowledge of electrical, electronic, and digital circuits.
- Knowledge of programming microprocessors and microcontrollers.
- Knowledge of power technology.
- Knowledge of industrial control systems, programmable logic controllers, and robotics.
- Knowledge of computer networks.
- Knowledge of digital communication systems.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT).
