Compensation & BenefitsTeacher salaries start at $43,000. Additional income opportunities include:
- $22.84 per hour when serving as an Extended Learning Opportunities Program Tutor or Certified Tutor.
- $28.23 per hour when teaching in an SCS Summer Program or with Project Graduation.
A comprehensive benefits package is offered that includes health, dental, vision, and flexible spending account options.
Minimum Qualifications- Hold a bachelor’s degree and be eligible to work in the United States.
- Meet one of the following requirements:
- Hold an active teaching certification in government grades 6‑12 in Tennessee or another U.S. state.
- Hold an undergraduate GPA of 2.75+ and score 149+ on the Government/Political Science (code 5931) Praxis exam.
- Hold an undergraduate GPA of 2.75+ and a bachelor’s or master’s degree with a major in political science.
- Candidates without full teaching certification must enroll in one of SCS’s partner Educator Preparation Programs if offered a position.
