Special Education Teacher
Environmental Science Teacher – IOTA Community Schools
IOTA Community Schools is seeking an Environmental Science teacher in the Memphis area for the school year. We truly believe that every student, whatever their circumstances, holds the innate potential to achieve their goals and succeed in college, leadership, and life.
The teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in assigned content areas, collaborating with staff, and participating in school-wide initiatives.
Position Responsibilities- Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Participate in staff meetings and serve on committees as required; the typical school day is 7:30 a.m. to 3:30‑4:30 p.m.
- Effectively instruct students in assigned content area(s) as prescribed by IOTA’s academic content standards through direct instruction, demonstration, and use of audio‑visual aids and other materials.
- Work as part of an interdisciplinary team, planning and aligning curriculum to ensure instruction follows state and school mandates.
- Set clear short‑term and long‑term instructional goals.
- Develop and submit weekly and long‑range lesson plans containing standards, objectives, essential questions, assessments, and lesson details; assign lessons and review homework.
- Consistently use data to evaluate pupil progress, record results, and issue meaningful reports to inform parents.
- Create and implement student intervention plans when necessary.
- Maintain the school’s student‑management policies and procedures (e.g., attendance records, dress code) and report to administrators when necessary.
- Maintain effective classroom supervision and discipline.
- Collaborate with other teachers and administrators to address and resolve student needs.
- Provide necessary accommodations and modifications for all students’ growth and success.
- Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
- Lead and participate in student activities such as sponsoring student organizations, coaching a sports team, working with parents and the community, providing morning or after‑school supervision, and chaperoning activities.
- Abide by all state and federal mandates in reporting sexual or physical abuse and neglect.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- MUST hold a valid Tennessee teaching license with the appropriate content endorsement, or hold a valid out‑of‑state license that can be transferred to Tennessee within 90 days of employment, or be on track to complete Tennessee certification steps.
- IF you do not hold a teaching license, you may qualify for a Practitioner license while completing graduate coursework; enrollment in an EPP program is required.

The teacher’s salary is based on years of certified experience, ranging from $53,000 to $75,250. We also offer a comprehensive benefits plan.
