Compass Community Schools is seeking an experienced school counselor at our Frayser campus (K-8) for the 2026-27 school year.
School Counselor Pay & Perks- Intentionally small school settings – K-8 sites have only about 225 students in total, and one classroom per grade level;
Midtown high school has less than 400 students in total. - Collaborative professional development (PLCs) supported by a network level Director of Student Services, as well as network-level content leads
- Robust medical, dental, and vision plan with significant employer contributions to premiums
- 100% employer‑funded short‑term disability, life, and accidental death insurance
- Contributions in the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System (AAA‑rated pension plan)
- Salary starts at $57,000, with add‑ons for holding a professional‑level license and/or for attending a local EPP

- REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree - REQUIRED:
valid Tennessee teaching license (with endorsement #487) - ENCOURAGED:

- Provide mediation for students, as needed, to help students successfully navigate challenging circumstances.
- Administer assessments to determine students’ academic, social, and emotional strengths and areas of need.
- Analyze various data to help inform students’ counseling needs.
- Refer students and families to various school, district, and community service providers as needed.
- Carefully monitor students’ educational plans and progress in collaboration with staff and service providers.
- Communicate regularly with families as partners in the education of their children.
- Carefully manage students’ confidential files.
