Southern Avenue Charter Elementary School is hiring a caring and dependable Head Start Teacher Assistant to support our Lead Teachers in the implementation of a high-quality early learning experience. The Teacher Assistant will play a vital role in promoting the development and well-being of our youngest scholars by helping create a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing daily activities that promote child development.
- Assist in managing classroom routines, transitions, and behavior expectations.
- Foster positive interactions with children to support social-emotional learning.
- Help supervise indoor and outdoor play, ensuring children's safety at all times.
- Assist with setting up learning materials and maintaining an orderly classroom.
- Attend team meetings and participate in required training and professional development.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow all Head Start and school policies.
- High school diploma or GED required; CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or willingness to obtain is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience working with preschool-aged children is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to take direction and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Passion for early childhood education and working with diverse populations.
