DescriptionAbout KIPP Memphis: KIPP Memphis is part of KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program), a national network of free, open-enrollment, public schools that are successful in helping students from educationally underserved communities develop the knowledge, skills, character, and habits needed to succeed in college and the competitive world beyond. There are currently 255 KIPP schools serving nearly 100,000 students. Today, KIPP Memphis serves over 2,000 students in our five schools in north Memphis and almost 800 alumni on their journeys to and through college with our KIPP Through College Program.

and responsibilities
Teaches choir fundamentals to music, including harmony, appreciation, history, and ensemble. Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students. Provides opportunities for music ensembles including choir & musical instruments. Differentiate music curriculum to meet the needs of the individual student and the student body. Plans a balanced music program, and organizes daily class time so that preparation, rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time.
Develops and refines music curriculum based on standards of creating, performing, and responding. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment during practice, group rehearsals, and music performances. Evaluates each student’s musical growth and contribution to the performance of the group that allows everyone to contribute. Maintains care/responsibility for school-owned music, musical instruments, and equipment to prevent loss or abuse.

- State licensure and certification (Required)
- Commitment to working with underserved students (Required)
- Commitment to the design and development of the school (Required)
- At least two years of teaching experience (Preferred)
- Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
- Master’s in Education / Teaching / Content area (Preferred)
- Experience/strength in content area/Highly Qualified status (Preferred)
- Experience teaching in an urban school (Preferred)
