Act Instructor

Studyville is hiring Part-Time ACT Instructors to help students raise their ACT scores through targeted, high-impact test-prep instruction delivered onsite in the classroom at the designated school. Instructors lead a full cohort of students using Studyville's provided ACT guides, curriculum, and sample/practice tests — no lesson planning required — to build content mastery and test-taking strategy across all ACT sections.

This role's core functions include:

  • Deliver on-site ACT prep instruction to a full cohort of students using Studyville's provided guides, materials, and practice tests
  • Use Studyville's ACT curriculum with no independent lesson planning
  • Review available pretest results before instruction begins to guide instructional emphasis
  • Track student progress — including practice test scores — and daily attendance
  • Be a reliable, positive, motivating presence for students preparing for the ACT
  • Support students in building confidence, ownership, and academic leadership throughout the cohort

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading ACT prep instruction for a full cohort of students on ACT English, Math, Reading, and Science content and strategy
  • Using Studyville's provided ACT guides, materials, and sample/practice tests as designed
  • Adjusting pacing and strategy to meet the cohort's target scores and areas of need
  • Administering the post-test during the final session
  • Following the provided ACT scope and sequence
  • Reviewing available pretest results before the first session to guide instructional emphasis
  • Recording attendance and daily student progress, including practice test scores
  • Documenting participation and engagement concerns and communicating them to the ACT Program Coordinator
  • Being a reliable, positive, motivating presence for students working toward a target ACT score
  • Fostering student confidence, ownership, and academic leadership throughout the cohort
  • Communicating student progress and score trends clearly to students, families, and/or school staff as needed

Qualifications include:

  • Personal ACT composite score of 33 or higher, achieved within the past 12 months, with an official score report available for verification
  • Comfortable and confident teaching ACT content and test-taking strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to help students meaningfully raise their scores
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and fingerprinting as required by state law
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Prior experience tutoring, teaching, or coaching students in ACT or other test prep
  • Prior experience teaching
  • Current teaching certification
  • Deep, current familiarity with the ACT — content, format, and pacing
  • Strong instructional and test-taking strategy skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional
  • Ability to motivate students working toward a specific score goal
  • Clear communication with students, families, and staff
  • Comfortable engaging and managing a full class of students in a live virtual format

Compensation and benefits include:

  • Base compensation range: $25–$30 per tutoring hour, based on experience and qualifying ACT score
  • Paid training and provided curriculum, guides, and practice tests
  • Consistent, scheduled cohort assignments
  • Opportunities for career growth with Studyville
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
