The Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all mechanical activities at a major customer site in Memphis, Tennessee, supporting the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and reliability of aeroderivative and industrial gas turbines and associated power generation equipment. This role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of mechanical work, while coordinating closely with operations, engineering, and customer stakeholders. The Mechanical Superintendent plays a critical role in maintaining equipment reliability, supporting operational performance, and delivering consistent customer satisfaction.
EssentialFunctions
- Lead and directly supervise mechanical crews (mechanics, technicians, and subcontractors) performing installation, commissioning, routine maintenance, major inspections, repairs, and overhauls on gas turbine power generation packages and balance-of-plant systems.
- Manage daily field execution to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within quality standards, and in compliance with all site and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate closely with customer operations personnel, OEM field service representatives, and Solaris project/operations teams to plan and execute preventive maintenance, planned outages, module exchanges, and emergency repairs.
- Oversee execution of gas turbine–specific activities including hot section inspections, borescope inspections, alignment, vibration analysis, lube‑oil system maintenance, fuel system servicing, and major overhauls.
- Enforce strict safety standards including lockout/tagout, confined space entry, hot work, rigging/lifting, and other high‑risk activity controls.
- Interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, OEM technical manuals, and work packages to direct accurate field execution.
- Manage mechanical project scopes including equipment rigging and setting, piping installation and alignment, mechanical system integration, and turnover documentation.
- Maintain detailed daily reports of progress, labor, materials, safety observations, downtime events, and reliability metrics.
- Drive continuous improvement in equipment availability, mean time between repairs, and reduction of unplanned outages in a high‑availability power environment.
- Mentor and develop field mechanical personnel; lead daily toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Provide rapid troubleshooting and leadership during forced outages to restore power generation as quickly as possible.
Skills and Qualifications

- 10+ years of hands‑on experience in mechanical installation, maintenance, and overhaul of industrial rotating equipment, with at least 4+ years working directly on aeroderivative gas turbines and/or industrial gas turbines used in power generation.
- Strong knowledge of gas turbine mechanical systems (gas path components, bearings, couplings, gearboxes, lube‑oil, fuel gas, starting systems, vibration monitoring, alignment).
- Experience with the installation and operation of SCRs (Selective Catalytic Reduction).
- Familiarity with trailer‑mounted or modular gas turbine power packages.
- Proven ability to manage complex mechanical work under tight schedules in operating industrial facilities.
