The Process and Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the consistency, efficiency, and quality of manufacturing processes within the facilities. This role supports production teams by developing, optimizing, and monitoring processes to meet cost, quality, and safety goals. The engineer will lead root cause analyses, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with CPG industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Engineering & Improvement
    • Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes to improve throughput, reduce waste, and ensure consistent product quality.
    • Lead process validation and capability studies (SPC, DOE, Cp/Cpk analysis).
    • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process control plans.
    • Identify cost savings and efficiency opportunities through Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
    • Support capital projects, including equipment commissioning and qualification.
  • Quality Assurance & Control
    • Investigate nonconformances, lead root cause analysis (RCA), and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
    • Maintain and improve quality systems to meet internal, customer, and regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, SQF, ISO 9001).
    • Monitor key process indicators and drive actions to meet or exceed quality targets.
    • Support customer complaints, audits, and product release processes.
    • Lead process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA) and risk assessments.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with R&D, Operations, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to ensure smooth product launches and change control.
    • Provide technical support for raw material changes, new product introductions, and equipment upgrades.
    • Train operators and technicians on process control and quality practices.
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field).
    • 3–7 years of experience in a manufacturing or CPG environment (food, beverage, personal care, or household products preferred).
    • Demonstrated success implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement projects.
    • Experience with quality management systems (QMS) and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Technical Skills
    • Proficiency in root cause analysis tools (Why-Why, Fishbone, DMAIC).
    • Knowledge of process mapping, PFMEA, control plans, and Gage R&R.
    • Familiarity with ERP/MES systems and data analysis software (Minitab, Power BI, Excel, etc).
  • Soft Skills
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset.
    • Capable of managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred Certifications
    • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
    • Lean Manufacturing Certification
    • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)
    • Manufacturing plant environment with frequent floor presence.
    • May require occasional weekend or off-shift support during projects or product launches.
