Overview
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will act as a technical leader and trusted advisor, delivering innovative structural solutions across a diverse range of projects. You will collaborate closely with clients and internal teams, lead complex designs from concept through construction, support business development initiatives, and mentor developing engineers.
Responsibilities- Serve as the technical lead and engineer of record on structural projects, providing oversight and direction to project teams.
- Partner with clients to understand project goals and develop practical, creative, and code-compliant solutions.
- Review, approve, and seal engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering technical growth and professional development.
- Contribute to business development efforts, including proposals, presentations, and client relationship building.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other consultants throughout design and construction phases.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering (or related field).
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive structural engineering experience.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Proven experience designing a variety of structural systems, including steel, concrete, masonry, and wood.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, and IBC.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and solution-focused.
- Proficient with structural analysis and design software and familiar with drafting/BIM tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, RISA, Ener Calc, or similar.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Solid project management and organizational skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with construction practices and safety standards; willing to perform site visits as needed.
