Salary Range: $72,907.90 - $
Works under the direction of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager. Plans and directs activities of personnel engaged in the treatment plant's processing function to ensure plant efficiency and conformity to EPA and other regulatory certification requirements. Analyzes daily processing data to evaluate efficiency of plant processing, to determine probable effects of processing procedures, and to ensure conformity to EPA and other standards.
Plans methods for conducting test and provides specifications for collecting data. Develops plans for modification of processing procedures and writes instructions for workers. Prepares various comprehensive reports regarding plant performance including monthly EPA reports. Prepares contracts, evaluates bids, and prepares budget for the process section. Trains, evaluates performance, and disciplines assigned personnel. Inspects plant to determine efficiency of processing.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requires ability to operate computer and to perform routine inspections of the plant. May have to assist with manual labor during emergency situations.
Typical Working ConditionsMajority of work is performed in an office environment but must make inspections of plant which will require being outdoors. May be exposed to various weather conditions, fumes, odors, dust, and noise.
QualificationsHigh school and eight (8) years experience in the field of environmental engineering with four (4) of the eight (8) years in a supervisory capacity; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform job functions.
Special RequirementsMust possess and maintain a current valid State of Tennessee Certification as a Class IV Wastewater Treatment Operator as a condition of continued employment.
