Overview
Mitsubishi Chemical Battery Materials Group is a world leader in electrolyte battery materials for electric cars and beyond. Located in Memphis, Tennessee, the Battery Materials Group is a fully integrated company for Sol-Rite™ formulated electrolytes used for lithium-ion batteries. Formulations are designed to meet customer needs and optimize battery performance, including solvents such as ethylene carbonate and lithium salt electrolytes such as LiPF6, with patented technologies to control the solid electrolyte interface on the cathode and anode.
Job Purpose
Participate in laboratory work necessary to assure that products are tested per operating procedures. Ensure that work is carried out efficiently and safely. Utilize judgment in making adaptations and modifications on all assignments.
Principal Accountabilities- Perform required analytical analysis on raw materials, in-process material and final product and other samples as directed by the Lab.
- Approve in-specification material for further processing. If a material does not meet specification or violates SQC rules, a Lab Coordinator, Business Quality Manager or Operation Manager must be notified.
- Ensure that all laboratory equipment is calibrated and maintained before use.
- Support the QA/QC manager in activities required to maintain IATF 16949 certification.
- Ensure all laboratory paperwork and equipment logbooks and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) entries are correct.
- Create Certificate of Analysis documentation for customer review.
- Flexibility to work a rotating day/night schedule.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Support and comply with all requirements of the Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Maintain lab safety standards and ensure proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Demonstrate good organizational skills, strong computer skills, the ability to work well with others, decision-making skills, and the ability to negotiate in the best interest of the team.
- Excellent oral and written communication; ability to present to senior staff. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently and under time constraints.
- Ability to work on multiple projects.
- Ability to drive functional, technical, and operational initiatives.
- Ability to inspire and drive the team.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry preferred or equivalent 2 years of laboratory experience in a chemical environment.
- Experience working with a LIMS database system.
- Experience with Statistical Quality Control (SQC) processes and control charts.
- Experience with analytical instrumentation such as High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC), IC, ICP and moisture analyzer and acid titration equipment.
- The salary for this position is $34.87. Factors such as scope and responsibilities, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, and market considerations may influence base pay. Salary may be adjusted geographically if work outside the listed location is authorized.
