The Project Director role is a high‑profile leadership position within the Water / Wastewater business. You will lead the delivery of water infrastructure projects in the multi‑million‑dollar range as part of the Memphis, TN team.

Black & Veatch’s Governments & Communities sector focuses on infrastructure needs for municipalities, state and local governments, and federal agencies. The team partners with customers to modernize water infrastructure, optimize asset use, and reduce costs.

• Prospect identification, proposal development and client presentations.
• New business objectives and overall project performance.
• External client engagement and community activities.
• Market business plan support and strategy development.
• Oversight of engineering managers.
• Project performance goals and accountability.
• Internal project team and owner representative involvement.
• Project budgeting, invoicing, and payments.
• Team development, mentoring and coaching.
• Training and promotion recommendations.

• 15+ years of business development and project management experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
• Professional Engineering License.
• Understanding of Wastewater and Water markets.
• Strong sales traits, including tenacity and competitiveness.
• Effective interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strategic thinking and persuasive messaging.
• Contract negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of budgeting and financial metrics.
• Self‑starter, decision‑making ability.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage shifting priorities.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Compliance with pre‑employment onboarding requirements.

• Hybrid or flexible work options after 90 days.
• Typical office and construction environments, exposure to weather, noise, and safety hazards.
• Physical requirements:
