Data Center Facility Manager role acts as Amazon’s front line when it comes to hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting. You will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot mission‑critical data center facility equipment including electrical support equipment such as stand‑by diesel generators and related fuel systems, 3‑phase electrical systems that include switch gear, UPS units, PDUs, and wet cell batteries, and mechanical equipment such as CRAC units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, water chemical systems, air handlers, pumps, and motors.
Additional support equipment includes fire suppression systems, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment.

Keyjob responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of the data center’s critical physical infrastructure. Ensure that all work performed within the space is done to high quality and without impact to internal or external customers.
- Manage teams of 24x7 engineering technicians in all facets of their career.
- Engage in improvement projects, often requiring reaching out to a variety of support teams, and drive them from conception to completion.
- Coordinate daily with a multitude of third‑party vendors ensuring adherence to contracted SLAs.
- Effectively and efficiently manage the operations budget and expenditures.
- Routinely operate as the after‑hours on‑call Data Center Facility Manager for the data centers in the region, responding to any issues and managing investigation, mitigation, and recovery.
As the Facility Manager, your role demonstrates a strong commitment to prioritizing the development and well‑being of team members, fostering diversity and inclusion, managing all facets of the data center’s critical infrastructure with a focus on continuous availability and optimal performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining a supportive work environment.
Qualifications- 2+ years in a managerial or supervisory role with 5 or more direct reports.
- 3+ years of experience in industrial electrical or mechanical systems.
- 3+ years of administrative experience including Microsoft Office products.
- Knowledge of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations including feeders, transformers, generators, switch gear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology or equivalent, or 5+ years of experience working in a data center or other mission‑critical environment with an emphasis on building and equipment operation.
- Experience communicating technical details verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to work in an environment that involves walking, stooping, bending, and climbing to access equipment.
- Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience.
