Global Engineering Services (GES) NA Ops Engineering is searching for an innovative and solutions-oriented engineering project leader to lead initiatives of developing and delivering next generation, world-class sortation and transportation systems. The Concept Development & Design Team will support retrofit designs for first mile retrofits as well as controls & solutions development to be used for future projects. In this role, you will collaborate with internal and external teams to design high-quality, cost-effective solutions for our fulfillment systems, including retrofits for highly automated fulfillment centers and cross‑dock facilities.

This role requires up to 25 % travel and availability to work from a corporate office when not traveling.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinate design and innovation efforts to develop optimal solutions for the fulfillment network through equipment specification, material flow, process design, site layout, and intellectual property considerations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to generate high‑quality, cost‑effective solutions in very short periods of time.
  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors.
  • Deeply understand the business and technical requirements of product integration from mechanical, electrical, and controls functions.
  • Evaluate solutions effectively and make decisions that balance business value and technology risk.
  • Help your customers and the engineering teams make appropriate trade‑offs by considering the larger picture (business goals, throughput expectations, quality requirements, efficiency, maintainability, operability).
  • Identify standards and drive consistent application of engineering changes across North America.
  • Build strong working relationships with Fulfillment Center leadership and their operations teams across multiple sites including Industrial Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, and Process Engineering stakeholders.
  • Data mine and transform raw ideas into clear technical documentation.
  • Communicate effectively, execute the vision, detailed roadmap, and specific technical solutions.
  • Travel up to 25 % globally to interact with internal and external business and technical leaders.

About the Team

Firm Engineering owns mechanical firm design for First Mile retrofits, Middle Mile POR, and Retrofits designs. The pillar also provides electrical, controls, and software integration support across all First and Middle Mile building types.

Qualifications
  • Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems and high‑speed manufacturing.
  • Experience with process design based on Lean Principles.
  • Experience in capital project management involving ownership/management of engineering design projects.
  • Experience with concepts such as system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, and decision making.
  • Experience using business or technical software like MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any domain), Operations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience.
  • Experience using data and metrics to back up assumptions, evaluate outcomes, and make data‑driven decisions.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering (any domain).
  • 3+ years of technical engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, electronic system design, and decision making.
  • Knowledge of SQL and VBA at an advanced level.
  • Experience working with and managing third‑party vendors.
Benefits and Compensation

Base salary range for this position:

  • USA, TN, Nashville – 94,300.00 –  USD annually
