Nuclear Procedure Writer (U-Metal) – Nuclear Fuel Services – Erwin, TN
Job SummaryResponsible for developing new and revising existing plant procedures (and LOAs) that support Nuclear Fuel Services operations. The writer works independently to analyze, design, and produce work‑process documents for nuclear facilities, following site procedure specifications for format, clarity, and regulatory compliance.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Design and develop new and revised plant procedures for NFS operations.
- Evaluate proposals for procedure changes, researching technical manuals, process flow documents, plant drawings, safety basis documents, customer requirements, and site policies to ensure safe operation, usability, and regulatory compliance.
- Interface with subject matter experts to gather required information using appropriate questioning techniques.
- Apply training and writer’s guidance to maintain consistent format, order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
- Participate in verification and validation of procedure usability through field walk‑downs, incorporating observations into human performance standards and technical accuracy.
- Use NFS enterprise software (eB) to process procedure revisions.
- Advise on corrective actions (e.g., procedure changes) to meet institutional and facility expectations.
- Maintain a working knowledge of safety policies, procedures, and regulations and perform duties safely.
- Execute additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
B.S. degree in Science, Technical, or a related field; or, if lacking a B.S. degree, eight (8) years of relevant experience.
Experience RequirementsThree to five years of related experience. Strong technical, organizational, and time‑management skills are essential, as are excellent writing, vocabulary, and grammar abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Word is required.
PayBase salary range: $[[]] – $[[]] per year, varying by market factors. Additional compensation may include an annual cash incentive and a full range of medical, retirement, and other benefits.
