Job Summary
A 12‑month contract to hire role located in Memphis, TN. The Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting Large Form Assembly (LFA) mechanical manufacturing operations by developing, sustaining, and improving mechanical assembly processes. This role focuses on the creation and maintenance of mechanical work instructions, value‑added optimization, and the application of Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles specific to large, complex mechanical systems.
The position specializes in mechanical layouts, structural assemblies, piping and hose routing, fastener strategies, and tolerance control while ensuring alignment between engineering documentation and manufacturing execution.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in mechanical manufacturing, industrial equipment assembly, or related engineering roles.
- Strong experience reading, reviewing, and interpreting mechanical drawings, GD&T, tolerance stack‑ups, and assembly prints.
- Hands‑on experience with mechanical assembly processes including structural builds, piping/hose installation, and fastener application.
- Experience developing manufacturing documentation such as work instructions, standard work, and visual aids.
- Familiarity with torque tools, fixturing, lifting devices, and mechanical assembly aids.
- Working knowledge of applicable mechanical and safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO, ASME, torque and pressure safety practices).
- Experience supporting NPI and production builds, including issue resolution and documentation updates.
- Strong understanding of mechanical manufacturing methodologies and large‑form mechanical assembly practices.
- Experience creating and maintaining mechanical documentation using tools such as Solid Works, AutoCAD, Creo, or equivalent CAD platforms.
- Knowledge of fastener selection, torque strategies, gasket and seal interfaces, hose and piping routing, and structural alignment.
- Experience supporting kitting strategies and material readiness for mechanical assemblies.
- Familiarity with leak paths, pressure interfaces, and mechanical failure modes in complex assemblies.
- Ability to identify and eliminate non‑value‑added steps in mechanical assembly processes.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical assemblies, documentation, and manufacturing execution.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and documentation discipline in a production‑focused environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and support fast‑paced manufacturing operations.
