Responsibilities
- Operate LiDAR equipment in the fields to collect accurate special data for mapping, surveying, and other projects
- Conduct pre-scan preparations, including equipment set up, calibration, and quality control checks
- Follow established scanning procedures and safety protocols to ensure data integrity and personal safety
- Collaborate with team members to plan scanning routes and optimize data collection efficiently
- Troubleshoot technical issues with equipment and elevate to senior technicians/supervisors when necessary
- Maintain organized records of scanning activities, including data logs, field notes, and equipment maintenance records
- Assist with data processing tasks, including point cloud registration, filtering, and quality assurance
- Participate in on-the-job training and professional development opportunities to expand technical skills and knowledge
- Travel to customers site as needed
- Work alongside Senior Project Engineers to:
- Ensure that the project follows execution best practices and Chief Engineering’s policies
- Effectively monitor and control project process, resource utilization, project financials and provides updates on project statuses to the team
- Perform construction quantity estimates and/or obtain bids, proposals, and quotations from subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment vendors as needed for respective projects
- Maintain relationships with customers, external contractors, suppliers and equipment vendors
- Develop preliminary engineering designs and concepts for multi-disciplinary projects
- Coordinate plans, calculations, and specifications among multi-discipline engineering team and subconsultants. For 3D modeling projects, responsible for regularly reviewing the model with a focus on gauging the level of inter-discipline coordination
- BS or Associate degree in Engineering
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a team environment
- Strong organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills
- Willingness to travel and work in varying outdoor environments and weather conditions
- Physical ability to lift and carry scanning equipment and perform fieldwork tasks as needed
- Proficient computer skills in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint)
- Ability to apply local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to engineering design, safety, and construction administration
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of multi-discipline and/or discipline-specific engineering related to the design, construction, implementation, or deliverable submission of projects
- Experience in industrial environments
- Experience with LiDAR technology
- Experience in Auto Desk Design products
- Familiarity with GIS (Geographis Information Systems) software such as ArcGIS is a plus
- PE license
- Travel by vehicle to client's site
- Work on computer
- Function in an outdoor/hazardous environment
- Wear special clothing and equipment/PPE may be required
