The Mechanical Designer supports the successful delivery of industrial engineering projects by producing high-quality mechanical designs, drawings, and 3D models that accurately translate engineering concepts into construction-ready deliverables. This role collaborates with engineers, project managers, and other disciplines to develop innovative, practical solutions while maintaining a strong commitment to quality, accuracy, safety, and client satisfaction.
The Mechanical Designer works in a fast-paced environment, contributing to multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high attention to detail and quality standards.
Responsibilities- Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for mechanical systems, equipment layouts, and piping systems.
- Produce equipment layouts, piping plans, fabrication details, and installation drawings for industrial facilities.
- Assist engineers with mechanical system designs, including piping, HVAC, process equipment, utility systems and material handling systems.
- Convert field data and 3D laser scans into accurate design models and drawing packages.
- Collaborate with multi-discipline teams to ensure coordination across mechanical, structural and electrical design.
- Participate in project kick off meetings, design reviews, and coordination meetings.
- Organize and maintain project drawing files, revisions, and document control in accordance with company standards.
- Support the development of project deliverables while maintaining schedules and meeting project deadlines.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of drafting and modeling standards.
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Autodesk design software (e.g., Inventor, Revit)
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems and industrial design principles
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical drawings
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficient computer skills in MS Office Suite
- Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments
- Experience with 3D scanning (LiDAR) and point cloud modelling
- Experience in Auto Desk Design products
- Familiarity with piping design, material handling systems, or process equipment
- Experience with additional design tools
- Exposure to applicable codes and standards
