What You’ll Be Doing

Job Scope
:
Generally responsible for planning and scheduling heavy industrial engineering projects, monitoring project costs and/or estimating projects. Work will be performed under minimal supervision.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Developing schedules and analysis for contract packages to forecast construction activities and identify coordination issues where safety and schedule can potentially be in conflict.
  • Developing, monitoring, and updating schedules through meetings, construction coordination interviews, and field verification.
  • Complete understanding of Earned Value and Project Productivity.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the change notice/change order management system.
  • Assisting in facilitating weekly change notice hearings and change committee meetings.
  • Establishing a progressive system for projects.
  • Assisting clients and teammates in developing construction and contract strategies for constructability of projects as it pertains to logistics and safety.
  • Prepare plans and documentation covering known and SCR requests to enable area work to be completed in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Prepare job plans for all work in assigned area using materials request and contractor instructions.
  • Attach all relevant documentation to the plan, including drawings, photos, test procedures, and cleaning procedures.
  • Validate job plans as part of the validation team.
  • Prepare work books for all supervisors in assigned area with copies of all paperwork needed.
  • Work with all foremen to assist work familiarization.
  • Work with Scheduler to develop framework for turnaround schedule.
  • Attend daily SCR meetings to understand new work for their area.
  • Ensure SCR work is planned and passed to scheduler for adding to the schedule.
  • Monitor SCR material availability to allow management of SCR work.
  • Work with foremen to identify changes needed on regular job plans and make the changes for future re-use.
  • Ensure seamless handoff of work from trades to QA/QC and then to Operations.
  • Review work is being performed in plant in accordance with job plans in conjunction with foreman.
  • Ensure all job packs are properly closed out.
Ideal Background
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science, or related field is highly preferred.
  • Certification: AACE International or Project Management Institute (PMI) certification is preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant industrial experience in planning, scheduling, cost control, and estimating.

  • Knowledge of other disciplines deliverable development to ensure coordination of efforts.
  • Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all project controls deliverables.
  • Experienced in scheduling professional service hours and assessing the progress and quality of project controls work. Ability to accurately estimate completion of assigned tasks.
  • Proficient in the use of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project scheduling software.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
