Responsibilities (Included by not limited to):
- Familiarity with and utilizing department design and drafting standards using AUTOCAD/Microstation or other standard industry CAD software
- Recognizing and communicating project scope, specifications, and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team.
- Recognizing and communicating scope and design changes promptly.
- On-site assistance during start-up
- Coordinating work activities with other staff members and project leads
- Producing 480
VAC/Medium voltage equipment specifications with site SME and project team - Drawings to include single-line and equipment layouts
- Producing electrical installation specifications and develop cost estimates/engineering schedule
- Participating in team or cross-discipline checks to ensure coordination between the design disciplines
- Checking electrical/controls calculations to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, specifications, design criteria and conformance to good engineering practice
- Determining construction quantities and provide construction with BOM’s
- Associates degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting and/or Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and/or experience as an Electrical Designer/CAD drafter with significant industrial experience
- 10 years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation drafting and design
- Familiar with 2D/3D AUTOCAD and/or Microstation
- Familiar with P&’s and how to read
- Familiarity with the current version of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Ability to size wire, conduit and overcurrent protection for both lighting and power applications as well as perform voltage drop calcs — route conduit and cable tray
- Ability to develop and advise on equipment specifications for 480
VAC equipment such as motor control centers, variable frequency drivers, induction and synchronous motors, load center unit substations, etc. Ability to determine load center unit substation loading - Ability to give advice on the design of control packages including loop drawings, PLC/DCS panel wiring, etc.
