The Engineer 4 of Attachment Engineering and Services reports to the Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Schedules, assigns, and coordinates the work of employees; facilitates and communicates activities and procedures with other areas, departments, and outside parties or agencies.
  • Plans, designs, and directs layout modifications, alterations, and additions to attachments on electric distribution, network, and street lighting systems.
  • Prepares, reviews, and approves site locations, engineering designs, drawings, and calculations; applies engineering principles and provides engineering information, technical advice, and assistance to engineers, designers, customers, contractors, etc., as well as instructions to employees and problem-solving.
  • Prepares, evaluates, and verifies reports and records in the preparation of the area budget, specifications, cost estimates, attachment agreements, permits, and agreements for project initiation and termination.
  • Monitors agreement and licensee attachment construction for compliance with standards, policies, procedures, design engineering practices, and the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) guidelines.
  • Conducts field visits to determine when construction changes are needed during a project; develops and issues corrective measures and actions.
  • Stays informed about Division policies, industry trends, technical developments, requirements, and procedures related to attachments to the Division’s electric distribution facilities and street lighting systems.
  • Operates Division vehicles, computer software, and office hardware.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/or directed.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have a valid driver’s license from the state of residence.
  • Professional Engineer(P.E.) License in the State of Tennessee.
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Must have 6 years of experience in designing electric distribution facilities and/or electric systems.
  • Experience with pole attachment process and guidelines, customer premise power systems, lighting systems, and/or network distribution systems is preferable.
  • Must have knowledge of and ability to apply advanced principles of engineering.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • Must successfully complete NIMS Training within one year of entering job.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 50 pounds or more of force on a regular basis.
