Shelby Electric is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced Electrical Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive, and complete cost estimates for electrical construction projects. This individual will evaluate bid documents, perform quantity takeoffs, develop labor and material costs, solicit vendor and subcontractor pricing, identify project risks, and support the company throughout the preconstruction and bid process.
The successful candidate understands electrical systems and construction methods, works confidently under bid deadlines, and can translate complex drawings and specifications into a clear project scope and reliable estimate. The Electrical Estimator will collaborate with project executives, operations teams, general contractors, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors to help secure profitable work and ensure a smooth transition from estimating to project execution.
Projects may include industrial, commercial, institutional, healthcare, data center, manufacturing, public works, and roadway.

- Minimum of four years of electrical estimating experience with an electrical contractor, general contractor, engineering firm, or related construction organization.
- Demonstrated knowledge of commercial and/or industrial electrical construction methods, materials, equipment, sequencing, and installation practices.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, riser diagrams, architectural plans, specifications, schedules, and contract documents.
- Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and preparing complete labor and material estimates.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and relevant building, fire, energy, and local code requirements.
- Ability to independently manage multiple estimates, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document assumptions and present estimates to leadership.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and common document-management tools.
- Proficiency with Accubid, McCormick, Con Est, Trimble, Bluebeam Revu, or Plan Swift.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites, pre-bid meetings, and client meetings when required.
- Legally authorized to work in Unites States without sponsorship.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, electrical engineering, engineering technology, or a related field; equivalent field and estimating experience will also be considered.
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license, electrical apprenticeship completion, or substantial electrical field experience.
- Experience estimating projects in the industrial and roadway industries.
- Experience with design-build, design-assist, negotiated, and conceptual estimating.
- Familiarity with BIM/VDC coordination, prefabrication, and electrical modeling workflows.
- Knowledge of local labor conditions, suppliers, subcontractors, permitting agencies, and market pricing.
- Experience with ERP, project-management, and bid-management platforms such as Sage, Autodesk Construction Cloud/Forma Build, and Building Connected.
- Experience developing estimates for low-voltage, fire alarm, telecommunications, renewable-energy, medium-voltage, or specialty systems.
