You will drive automation roadmaps, major capital projects, new product introductions, and factory transformation initiatives while serving as the site's highest-level automation subject matter expert.

As the Principal Automation Engineer (LFF), you will provide strategic and technical leadership for automation across the Large Form Factor (LFF) operation. You will drive automation roadmaps, major capital projects, new product introductions, and factory transformation initiatives while serving as the site's highest-level automation subject matter expert. The ideal candidate will come from a contract manufacturing environment (EMS or similar) and have demonstrated success leading automation initiatives supporting high-volume manufacturing operations.
This individual should possess a strong blend of technical expertise, project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration, with the ability to partner effectively with manufacturing sites, automation vendors, and internal stakeholders to successfully deploy automation solutions.
- Develop and execute the LFF automation strategy and technology roadmap.
- Lead major automation projects supporting NPI, capacity expansion, and operational excellence.
- Drive deployment of robotics, vision, test, mechatronics, and material handling solutions.
- Serve as the primary technical interface with suppliers, customers, and regional automation teams.
- Lead resolution of complex automation challenges impacting safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Champion automation standards, best practices, and technology scalability.
- Mentor engineering teams and support development of automation capabilities.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in manufacturing automation, capital equipment deployment, or advanced manufacturing.
- Experience leading large-scale automation projects and factory automation initiatives and contract manufacturing.
- Demonstrated success developing business cases, defining technical and financial requirements, managing vendors, and overseeing automation project execution.
- Experience supporting maintenance automation or manufacturing process automation is preferred.
- Experience with vision and/or inspection manufacturing or automation involving large products/assemblies is a plus. Previous leadership or mentoring experience
- Expert knowledge of manufacturing automation systems.
- Advanced knowledge of robotics, controls, vision systems, and industrial automation.
- Strong project leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in large assembly or high-mix manufacturing environments preferred.
