$23.00 - $27.00 per hour
Position DescriptionThe focus of the position will be to leverage wastewater treatment expertise to execute projects. Primary responsibilities will include technically supporting contact execution activities within the utility and industrial wastewater treatment markets.
The Wastewater Treatment Operator Specialist Will- Complete all assigned tasks with a high regard for safety and teamwork.
- Perform routine manual sampling of water at various locations to assess water quality.
- Perform field tests on sampled water to evaluate the water treatment system (WTS) performance.
- Calibrate field testing devices on a consistent basis to ensure accurate results.
- Maintain a clean and operational workspace in the field test lab.
- Acquire and send packaged water samples from various locations in the system to a remote lab.
- Perform inspections of the WTS equipment (including pipes, pumps, gauges, injection ports, connections, etc.) to ensure functionality and safety.
- Monitor water, chemical, and sediment levels in various systems
- Complete various safety and operational forms on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis according to site requirements
- Submit safety and operational forms via iPad or paper hardcopy to Site Manager and/or Engineers for review and verification.
- Proactively operate chemical injection skids and fine-tune injection rates based on sensor readings and field test results.
- Proactively lead various system maintenance tasks such as replacing bag filters, back flushing sand filters, replacing chemical totes, and other miscellaneous needs
- Actively communicate site demands and activities to the Site Manager and other Operators to ensure successful operation of the WTS.
- Develop an operational and technical expertise of the WTS equipment.
- The Wastewater Treatment Operator Specialist reports to the Site Manger
- The position does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities.
A high school diploma is required;
An associate's degree is preferred.
- At least 2 years of field experience in wastewater environments.
- Technical leadership for complex physical/chemical and biological wastewater treatment systems
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- High energy and commitment
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization.
- Must be local to Memphis, TN
- Ability to climb up and down stairs and ladders.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work standing all day.
- Ability to utilize full manual dexterity (i.e. sitting, squatting, bending, kneeling, lifting, walking, manipulating tools with limbs extended).
- Ability to accommodate varying work schedules.
- Ability to utilize hand tools onsite.
