This job is in the Plant family (Department), which includes positions responsible for supervising or performing work metals processing and distribution work within the Reliance family of companies. Work includes specialized equipment operation and/or supporting functions and requires a practical knowledge of the nature and operations and the materials, facilities and methods employed by Reliance companies in metals processing and distribution.

Sedentary Work
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

• Responsible for transforming initial rough product designs using computer-aided design (CAD) into working documents.
• Prepares lay-outs, drawings and designs according to engineering specifications.
• Performs take off on blueprints/drawings.
• Reviews engineering drawings and supporting documentation and analyzes designs.
• Retrieves any necessary details to complete drawing, layout or design.
• Works with the sales representative responsible for the sales order or quote and/or customers for drawing information and verification.
• Assists inside/outside sales reps and/or outlying service centers with CAD inquiries and/or estimating jobs.
• Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
• All other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.

• 0-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
• Auto Cad training and/or experience in the steel industry preferred.
• Associate Degree with major course work in CAD or Industrial Design required.
• Basic knowledge of custom processing equipment capabilities required required.
• Ability to read and extract parts from assembly drawings required.
• Knowledge of arithmetic required.
• Strong computer proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft applications required.
• Ability to exercise discretion when handling sensitive/confidential sales information required.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required.
• Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, and judgement required.
• Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and customers/vendors required.
