AP Operations Accountant

Summary

Drives process guidance and support within the Chief Accounting Officer’s Division, with a primary focus on accounting principles, process design, and efficiencies related to Accounts Payable.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Serve as Subject Matter Expert for Oracle Accounts Payable

• Facilitate research and problem resolution for complex vendor issues

• Coordinate IRS requirements for Accounts Payable reporting

• Coordinate research, review, and escheatment of uncashed AP checks

• Prepare and maintain documentation for standard operating procedures

• Support Audit requests

• Provide accounting support for operational functions within Accounting Services

• Produce ad-hoc reports and information extracts as required for business analytics

• Participate in data loads to various systems

• Conduct all activities in a professional manner that reflects First Horizon’s culture and ethics

JOB REQUIREMENTS :

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTIC

• Ability to communicate in an effective and professional manner both orally and written

• Proficient understanding of general ledger and accounts payable system functions

• Must be able to handle conflict and work with all resource levels within the company

• Thorough understanding of IRS requirements for Accounts Payable deliverables

• Must be able to learn in a high paced environment

JOB QUALIFICATIONS :

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Management Information Systems preferred

• 9+ hours of systems type classes preferred (MIS, computer science, visual basic, etc.)

• Experience with Oracle ERP and/ or Coupa preferred

• Proficient in commonly used Microsoft Office applications

• 4-5 years experience in accounting systems, accounts payable, or similar field

• Ability to maintain positive attitude in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
