Assistant Controller

We are seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller to support the financial operations of a growing organization. This role will play a key part in financial reporting, month-end close, internal controls, and job costing analysis. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting fundamentals, experience in project or job-based costing, and a mindset for process improvement and scalability.

• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
• Maintain and analyze job costing and project profitability reporting
• Partner with operations and project managers to ensure accurate cost tracking and margin analysis
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Help strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures as the company grows
• Assist with audit preparation and coordination with external auditors
• Support system improvements and reporting enhancements
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies

• Track labor, materials, and overhead by job/project
• Analyze job margins and identify cost overruns or trends
• Improve accuracy of cost allocations and work-in-process (WIP) reporting
• Provide actionable reporting to operations leadership

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience in job costing or project-based accounting (construction, engineering, field services, or similar preferred)
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
• Advanced Excel skills; ERP experience preferred (Net Suite, Sage, Dynamics, etc.)
• CPA or CPA track a plus
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and communication skills
