Position Overview
Support the execution of day-to-day tax processes and compliance activities across multiple tax areas, including tax accounting, direct and indirect tax compliance, transfer pricing support, and audit readiness. This role works under the guidance of a Tax Manager and senior team members to help ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with tax reporting and compliance obligations.
EssentialJob Duties /Responsibilities
- Assist in the execution of daily tax operations, including tax accounting, domestic and international compliance, indirect tax, and transfer pricing support; adhere to governance processes by following established review, documentation, and sign-off procedures.
- Assist with maintaining internal controls over tax processes, including SOX documentation and audit support; review interim and year-end income tax provision work papers and return-to-provision adjustments.
- Perform first-level review of tax-related journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Support coordination with Controllership, FP&A, and Financial Reporting teams by responding to data requests and assisting with management reporting.
- Support the preparation of U.S. federal, state, and international tax returns by coordinating with third-party tax service providers, gathering data, responding to questions, and tracking deliverable timelines.
- Prepare and support tax compliance obligations maintained in-house in accordance with internal controls, processes, and filing deadlines.
- Research U.S. federal, state, and internal tax regulations, document potential impacts, and respond to internal stakeholder questions by gathering information and escalating issues as needed.
- Assist with operational transfer pricing processes, including data collection, analysis, and documentation support, and maintain organized records to support tax positions and audit readiness.
- Support the use of tax technology tools, data platforms, and workflow systems.
- Assist with data validation, system uploads, and maintenance of tax documentation.
- Participate in process improvement and automation initiatives.
- Assist with various tax projects and tax audit support by preparing schedules, documentation, and responses to information requests.
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field required.
- Master’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, or a Juris Doctor (JD) preferred.
- 1-3 years of corporate tax experience within a North American or public accounting firm.
- Foundational understanding of U.S. federal and state income tax concepts, including taxable income calculations, book-to-tax differences, and common adjustments.
- Exposure to corporate tax compliance processes, including preparation of tax returns, extensions, estimated payments, and supporting schedules.
- Demonstrated ability to research tax issues at a basic level and summarize findings clearly for review.
- Ability to work with large data sets and perform data validation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Ability to collaborate with Fed Ex cross-functional teams and external tax service providers.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills; experience with tax technology platforms or data tools a plus.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document work and communicate analytical results.
- Commitment to ethical conduct and professionalism.
