The Comprehensive Cancer Center e Children’s Research Hospital is seeking a high performing Financial Business Partner to collaborate closely with leaders and teams, delivering financial insights that drive strategic decision‑making and organizational performance. Embedded within the Office of the Cancer Center Director/Executive Vice President, this role translates financial data into clear, actionable insights.
Responsibilities- Partner with business leaders to understand operational needs, financial drivers, and performance objectives.
- Provide financial analysis, modeling, and forecasting that support strategic and operational decision making.
- Develop annual budgets in collaboration with department leaders and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
- Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions when needed.
- Prepare clear financial reports, dashboards, and presentations that support transparency and decision readiness.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and strengthen financial accountability.
- Evaluate financial implications of business cases, investments, and new initiatives.
- Translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and central Financial Planning teams to enhance data quality, reporting tools, and financial systems.
- Support long-range financial planning, scenario modeling, and risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and relevant regulations.
- Build strong partnerships across the organization while promoting financial literacy and responsible resource management.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Plan workload for team and give clear instructions and expectations on delivery.
- Frequently review work, give positive and constructive feedback, and complete evaluations.
- Coaches and supports the development efforts of each team member.
- Provide financial/business analysis and ad‑hoc financial modelling.
- Strong knowledge of internal controls and financial risk management.
- Develop and implement analytical standards for reporting and modelling KPIs.
- Utilise models to perform ad hoc analyses.
- Proactively keep track of changing regulatory and quality standards to align processes for compliance.
- Effectively monitor compliance with financial regulatory requirements and report issues.
- Utilise reports and manage documentation to efficiently monitor financial compliance requirements.
- Lead team meetings as needed and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams for results.
- Use digital tools of communication as needed.
- Speak up in meetings, raise concerns, and share information with the team.
- Draw insights from different data sets and quickly understand why issues are happening.
- Identify root causes and solve problems quickly.
- Encourage others to see opportunities ahead, even when details are not finalized.
- Remain calm in challenging and uncertain times, focusing on end goals and solving problems.
- Defuse unforeseen developments and problems using data analysis and insights.
- Drive engagement and ownership for the group to deliver ambitious results and solutions.
- Use deep understanding of financial systems, tools and processes.
- Possess deep skills in closing and advanced financial reporting and analyses; strong grasp of reporting standards.
- Manage technically complex accounting and reporting issues and processes.
- Develop documentation, procedures, and instructions.
- Skilled in all aspects of accounting operations including accounts payable & receivable, collections and cash projection processes.
- Review reports, ledgers, detect frauds and bad debts, and ensure policies and controls are adhered to.
- Drive process improvement projects within the department to improve efficiency.
- Integrate financial, operational, and strategic considerations to guide decision making and recommend actions supporting organizational objectives.
