Credit Risk Manager
We are currently seeking a Credit Risk Manager for a consultant opportunity with a financial services client.
Responsibilities- Manage the full lifecycle of commercial rating models, from design and development through system implementation and governance
- Oversee risk grading guidance in alignment with policy, system limitations, and scorecard design
- Satisfy new and existing governance requirements for risk ratings, including reporting on operational and statistical performance
- Contribute to credit policy discussions related to risk ratings and grading
- Oversee controls tied to risk grading and coordinate with relevant groups on issues and resolution
- Engage with various constituents across the bank’s lines of defense, as well as auditors and regulators, regarding risk rating policy and practice
- Maintain the inventory of scorecard models, including scorecards in use, under development, and in the pipeline
- Track and manage scorecard usage, including periodic updates to existing scorecards and adjustments for new products or structures
- Monitor scorecard performance for accuracy and operational effectiveness, including tracking and reporting on usage, override rates, system integrity, past‑due scorecards, and related items
- Serve as the primary contact for oversight groups, including regulators, Credit, Credit Assurance, Model Risk Management, and auditors
- Provide effective challenge to first‑line requests for changes to scorecard models, guidance, or policy
- Lead initiatives to develop new scorecard models or revise existing models
- Collaborate with Enterprise Technology to support system implementation
- Address frequent inquiries from constituents— including Credit, Credit Assurance, Internal Audit, LOB, and others—regarding scorecard guidance interpretation, rating specific deals, and other scorecard‑related questions
- Partner with Credit Policy and Credit Risk to revise, update, or modify policies impacting risk grading
- Partner with downstream ratings users, including those in pricing, CECL, CCAR, and portfolio management
- Provide guidance to executive management on strategic initiatives, emerging risks and opportunities, and industry best practices related to Commercial risk ratings
- 10 years of Wholesale/Commercial credit rating experience, including Commercial and Industrial lending, Commercial Real Estate, Small Business, and specialty lines of business
- 15+ years of Commercial/Wholesale credit rating experience, with at least 5 years owning or leading a risk rating practice preferred
- Demonstrated experience working with credit rating models and knowledge of their use, performance metrics, technology requirements, and governance
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with common third‑party rating platforms such as Moody’s Credit Lens, commercial front office systems such as nCino, and core systems such as ACBS
