Responsible for coordinating and monitoring the charge capture/charge reconciliation activities for the Radiology Department. Generates appropriate charges timely and completely based on CPT guidelines. Ensures that charges are accurately posted to patient accounts in a timely manner. Serves as a communication link between Radiology staff, physician offices, and management team in discussing issues, recommendations, solutions and answering questions related to patient charges.

A Brief Overview

Responsible for coordinating and monitoring the charge capture/charge reconciliation activities for the Radiology Department. Serves as a communication link between Radiology staff, physician offices, and management team in discussing issues, recommendations, solutions and answering questions related to patient charges.

What You Will Do
  • Conducts analysis to ensure all Radiology patients are charged appropriately. Ensures timely and accurate completion and submission of appropriate charges within specified guidelines.
  • Reviews medical record documentation to determine appropriate charge.
  • Performs audits of charges to assure all charges have been captured. Makes recommendations regarding resolutions of identified issues.
  • Responsible for daily reconciliation and late charge capture and prevention. Performs late charge reconciliation and enters late charges manually if necessary.
  • Analyzes data and recommends process changes to the management team as indicated.
  • Brings identified concerns to the Radiology team for resolution.
  • Serves as a liaison with the physician offices that utilize Radiology services. Serves as a resource to physician offices to answers inquiries and obtain information regarding Radiology system concerns.
  • Performs administrative functions for the department such as answering and responding to telephone calls, scheduling appointments and meetings, typing and composing letters, memos and/or other documents, monitoring and maintaining utilization of materials and office supplies and orders supplies to ensure adequate inventory and adheres to budget.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Education / Formal Training Requirements
  • Required - High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred - Associates Degree
Work Experience Requirements
  • Required - Billing, coding, or insurance verification 3-5 years
Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of Radiology modalities, procedures and studies.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding guidelines, DNV standards and CMS guidelines.
  • Ability to foster and maintain good working relationships with internal and external customers including but not limited to supervisors, managers, physicians, and other departments/areas.
  • Ability to work well in a multitasking environment paying close attention to details.
  • Ability to work effectively and productively without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment in decision making.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, to all levels within the organization.
  • Proficient in Windows-based applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (i.e. fax machine, copy machine, etc.).
